Re: Helix Release Date discussion

I saw they apparently had it as well (and for less), but I had never heard of them and read some less than stellar feedback on their service/returns/etc and didn't want to deal with it if I got unlucky.  It worked out because excaliber had them and I got an order in... should be getting my helix on Tuesday! :)

I got an i7 256GB SSD model in the UK from morecomputers.com after an email from them in the week saying they had 1 in stock. It looked as though they'd got a few in that day but all the rest had gone to back-orders. I ordered mine on Tuesday evening and it was delivered on Friday. So far I think it's everything I expected - truly superb!

The 3G model. I don't think Lenovo have produced a 4G model for the UK yet. As far as I am aware, the 4G model which may or may not have been withdrawn in the US was not available for the UK from the off - probably because we only currently have one mobile network in the UK offering a 4G service. The other networks won't be launching 4G services until later in the year.

I have 4G on my iPhone and could conceivably use it to tether my Helix, but 4G is still quite expensive here and I'm currently only paying for 500MB a month which doesn't go that far. The cost of 4G will hopefully come down in the UK when there is some competition between networks.

rberman, so yours comes with WWAN correct? I'm still wondering why some helix has sim slot but can't use with 3g/4g. What does that sim slot do if there is no 3g/4g? I'm confusing.

Yes, I believe so - although I haven't tried using it. The spec states – WWAN: Ericsson C5621gw Mobile Broadband Module. There was one of those Lenovo sim cards but I've not tried it out.

Wow... that is what I want to get. I ended ordering the i7 256gb with no WWAN. I feel bad now. I need the 3G one but it seems no retailers have it in stock. Not really sure what Lenovo is planning to do with Helix. I think I should cancel my order and wait for 3G one but I really need the device right now. :smileysad:

This is just the way it is suppose to happen... Someone orders a Helix w\3g or 4g and doesn't seem to care.

That is the whole point I was wanting one. A beast with 3 or 4g!!!!

No, I don't want to use my iphone as a modem and order the SU moddel. If that were the case, then I would just buy a 128gb MS Surface Pro.

WHich the more I am thinking about it, the more I may give in and save a few hundred bucks...

This whole deal with the Helix is such a joke on the Lenovo company...

Sorry - i am just frustrated...

stso9daa, I feel frustrated waiting for the helix 3g/4g model too. Tethering cell phone to 36984SU should be painful for me but I can't hold my breath anymore. I saw some people posted that 3g/4g model might delay until August and those Lenovo Rep. are keep lacking on the releasing date of helix everytime I ask them. If I keep waiting for 3g/4g model, I will just waste my time and more money on it. That's why I ordered the SU model. :smileysad:

Could you confirm whether the released UK i7 model has NFC or not?  It's not a deal breaker, but I'd like to know before I order the Helix.
