Internal Bluetooth not working

2008-04-10, 14:20 PM
Hi,

I've always thought that my X41 tablet didn't have an internal bluetooth until today, when I found that it indeed does in the product description of many websites. Coincidentally, I did a factory reinstall of Windows due to a virus. I sought this as a great opportunity to diagnose this problem and enable bluetooth.

I've practically tried everything -- ie. Device manager, the IBM bluetooth software, and trying to find/disable the Microsoft Bluetooth.

FN + F5 only shows "802.11 wireless radio", which I have turned on and off to see if it makes a difference but still there is nothing under Device Manager that says "Bluetooth".

IBM's software for Bluetooth can't detect any Bluetooth devices either.

I'm really puzzled with this, if anyone can assist me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What is the specific 7 digit model number for your X41?

Cheers,

Uhh, Where would I find this model number? I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't look for it at the moment, but I can say that I bought it in 2006.

Thanks

I discovered similar problem on my X61 tablet. When I turn off bluetooth under Linux by executing the command

echo disable > /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth

the bluetooth device becomes unreachable under Vista even after cold reboot of the laptop.
And start to work after execiting the comand

echo enable > /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth

under Linux.
It looks like a lack of proper initialization of bluetooth device in Windows code.

I have an X61 Tablet and I think the model number you are looking for is 7762W28 for mine.  I am having the same problem.  I have installed the bluetooth software but it won't recognize any devices (phone, mouse, etc.)  It says I need to push Fn+F5 to turn the swtich on but when I do that the only options I get are something for a wireless radio.  How do I enable my computers bluetooth capability?  Thanks for the help,

To fix this
download and hold
wireless driver
bluetoothdriver
powermanager driver
hotkey driver

then uninstall wireless and bluetooth
reboot
reinstall both
install powermanager
install hotkeys

This order will fix the issue
