Re: Problems with Lenovo Service & X61 Tablet (776796U) purchased through Authorized Reseller...

If you've paid by credit card (or CC-backed PayPal) it's time for a chargeback...and then the seller will talk to you, and then some.
Cheers,

George

George:

Thanks for the heads up on the CC option, unfortunately, he was sent a bank check...

I will ALWAYS use a CC in the future...  This is GREAT advice for everyone reading this!!!

Best regards:

Dan

Thread is 16 days old today... I have been in possesion of the DOA machine for 3 weeks.  So far no action... I sent an email status request to Greg B. and reminded him that his projected replacement date is only a few days away...  Back on the phone with 800-IBM-SERV to see if they can look up any information...

Re: Worst customer service

2008-07-21, 16:36 PM

Just a quick follow-up...

The eBay Seller (Viva-Revol) has done nothing to help me...  They had an opportunity and a responsibility to help me by exchanging my system early on...  They ignored their responsibility and instead insisted that the system they sent, although defective, would need to be repaired under the Lenovo Warranty...

Lenovo has stepped up to replace the DOA system which should be exchanged by the weeks end.  In general, Lenovo has been responsive and professional...  The Warranty Service team has been professional, courteous, responsive, and have provided several attempts to solve my hardware problem...

Over the last month, I have learned;

  1. NEVER purchase something like this through eBay using a Bank Check as the form of payment.  If I had used PayPal with a CC as the form of funding, I could have initiated a chargeback to recover lost monies...
  2. ALWAYS buy the Warranty...
  3. With high $ purchases, ALWAYS use an Authorized Reseller or buy directly from the manufacturer...
  4. Utilize online forums as a tool to promote good communication, documentation, and accountability...
  5. LENOVO is a good company with responsible CSR's that have a very limited scope...  In order to pursue an exchange of a DOA machine, you need to work through many layers of an inadequate tier system...  The Managers or Dept. Leads that can make a difference are not easily accessible...

At this time, my problem has not been resolved...  However, I do feel confident that by the end of the week I should have a new replacement system.

I would not recommend this process to a friend...

Best regards:

Dan

Re: Acceptable customer service

ALL IS WELL!!!

I love the new machine and have seen a substantial performance increase by installing 2X 2 Gig Memory modules...  Just make sure your modules have the same timing...  CL5 is what I have and that works very well...  In my opinion Micron chips are the best for RAM, but you can do very well with Kingston also...

I also upgraded the 5.4k 120 Gig HDD for a 7.2k 200 Gig HDD with encryption...  I prefer Hitachi drives...  Highly recommended!

This system works perfectly with Vista!  Just be sure to do a full HD restore and EXCLUDE Norton, and the Office Demo...

I was able to find Office 2007 Student at Costco for $100 and Kaspersky Internet Security 7 for $31...

I am very pleased with the results of this experience...

Hope this helps...
