Re: Helix Fans Always Running

2013-06-07, 7:14 AM

Hi,

I have the same problem as everyone else. I work alone in a quiet office and to me the fans are hysterical. I updated with the bios from the 5th of june but the problem remains. The fans go on at startup and never goes quiet. I have the i7/256ssd version of the Helix.

The Helix is by far the best hybrid I owned but only thanks to TPFancontrol by Troubadix. Its sad that a highend product like the Helix needs freeware to function properly.

Its only the fans in the keyboard that are loud. When using the Helix as a tablet its all quiet.

2013-05-10, 0:02 AM

My fans seem to always be running, the one inside the tablet portion never seems to stop even at idle, has anyone else noticed any issues?

Fan issues on Helix

2013-05-22, 20:04 PM

Hello,

I have noticed some strange fan behavior on Helix ...
If i put the tablet in the dock, the fan runs continuously about a hour, then the fan stops completely and never starts again o.O
Has anyone seen a similar behavior?

This is not something new, at work we are using Lenovo and with some new models we get fan problems.

Like the fan not ever stopping after it starts

I am also not seeing the fans behave as if they are temerature controlled.

So it seems to be a software problem ... I hope Lenovo will fix this, the notebook is too expensive for such issues. Especially because there are other problems, like the not very precise pen Input ...

It's how they're designed to operate -- very conservative approach. Install ThinkPad Fan Control and your problem will be solved.

Hi All,

thanks for posting and well come to the community to those new comers. Was reading through this thread and a bit alarmed by the number of people affected by this. Before I can dive into this I'd like to confirm a number of things.

Based from what I've read here the system you have seems to exibit this issue only when docked. Now with this being said, I'm assuming that the fan operates in diffrent timing for diirent customers. What is the time frame like? How about heat generation? how often does that happen? Are the Fans producing some sort of loud sounds when it Spins?

Sorry for the List of questions but just trying to narrow down the issue a bit further.

Regards

Re: Helix Fans Always Running

Hello Nine

I will try to explain this:

-model 3697

- When the Helix is attached to the Keyboad most of the time when I turn it on the fans will be going very fast, "its noisy AND annoying" , both fans (tablet and keyboard)

- It have nothing to do with the tempreture, I have limited the CPU use in the energy plan so it does not get hot, and with a  tempreture monitoring program the CPU temp is  between 38 and 47 but the fans still going very fast.

-some times after around an hour the fans in the keyboard suddenly stops, and the fans in the helix goes on working,.When the fans in the keyboard stop, it will never run again as far as I tested (until turn off or maybe reboot).

- If I use the tablet alone, the fans in the tablet seems to act in a logic way, getting more speed and less speed acording to the tempreture.

- I have latest drivers and bios updates

I ended throwing the keyboard away for now and buying a blueetooth keyboard  after 3 days of trying to figure how to fix ...

You think this is logic functioning ?

regards
