Recreate Thinkpad Rescue Partition?

2008-04-19, 2:15 AM
OK... so I had a heck of a time moving from the default 5400 RPM 120 Gig drive to my aftermarket 200 gig 7200 RPM drive on my new X61T.

I've done it on other thinkpads several times before, but for the life of me couldn't remember what technique I've used in the past.  And every tool I tried seemed to crap out.  I tried:

Arcronis Easy Migrate
Restore from Windows Home Server Backup
Ghost

Ultimately, I had to just clone the windows partition (not the recovery one), and then use a Windows Vista disk to repair the boot partition.  Everything's running good on the new drive now.

But, I'd like to create the recovery partition and the Thinkpad boot sector configuration.  Is there any option to get that partition back and setup in it's factory default configuration?

Could be wrong, but I think the only way to do this is to re-image from the Rescue and Recovery CD...
