Should I get multitouch for the X201? And some other questions.

2011-01-27, 1:38 AM

I was just wondering if multitouch is worth the $200 or so. Some concerns I had were:

- how is the responsiveness of the touch screen? I'm sure it's probably no where near the iPad's responsiveness, but are scrolling and click good?

- when writing with the pen, does resting your hand on the multitouch screen get in the way? (i.e. your palm clicking something when trying to write)

- how are the speakers on the X201t? I've heard both that they weren't very good, and above average.

- anything else you'd like to mention

Thanks so much!

The mutitouch feature is well worth it.  It makes scrolling through web pages and .pdf's very easy. Your hand rarely gets in the way when writing with the stylus.  The screen seamlessly senses that you've switched inputs,or just doesn't recognize the side of your palm as a second touch.

Multitouch is great on the X201. Would never go back. You'll find yourself touching other people's LCDs after a few months expecting them to work the same. Scrolling & click are very easy after you calibrate it. The speakers are above average (better than my old Dell XT2), but they are still laptop speakers. Good luck.

I don't have multitouch, so I must not know what I'm missing. I got a tablet so that I could take hand written notes and for light ereader duties. Anything else (such as web browsing,) my x201 is in laptop configuration.

Also, the speakers are on the bottom of the laptop. They sound ok, but because they are downward facing, I think they would fall below average in terms of volume.
