Some odd warnings and messages for my Helix in the Lenovo Device Manager "Check Up" screen

2013-05-17, 16:18 PM

If I open up the Lenovo Solution Center software, and go to the Check Up tab and select Device Manager, it shows a warning that says "One or more devices have problems", and lists two drivers that show "Unknown device" with a status of "Not installed".

There's no other information and I'm not sure what to make of this. Does anyone else have this issue? If I open up the Windows 8 Device Manager and expand all nodes in the tree, I don't see any devices with warning icons.

Also if I go back to the Hardware Scan button in the Check Up tab, and run it, althought he scan passes, it shows a Warning for the SMART short self test, and notes that the test is "Not supported", with a result code of WHD01V000-WIVZ2I. Is this anything to be concerned about? Note that it's not a failure, but a non supported test. Does anyone else's Helix complete this test?

I have the exact same problem with regard to 2 unknown devices not installed.  I got the message after first getting the Helix and running the updates.  I called Lenovo support and the tech could not figure it out and her response was "Well if is not causing any problems, I would not worry about it"  which sounds like an excuse to just get me off the line.  I was in a hurry to get somewhere and so did not push the issue.

The message only says 2 divices not installed, but does not tell you which ones.  The tech said that if it was a real problem, the message would tell me what divices are not loaded.

I have seen another post or two from people with the same issue but not suggested fixes.

Ok well we ought to push for some clarity. I'll give them another week, I know they're probably feeling the heat from this weird silent release, but for $2100 I want a machine that is fully installed and functional. For all I know those drivers are for the two cameras. Have you tried to get those working yet? I have not.

My guess is that it is related to WiDI.  They vansished sometime after I install WiDi.

Ok, where did you install WiDi from? I could have sworn that I saw an icon for WiDi in the system tray already. Are there additional drivers?

Guess I'm confused because I thought the device had software that auto downloaded all necessary drivers. Why do we even need to go online to download drivers for the Helix?

I get smart drive self test not supported.  Probably a SSD vs spinning disk test issue.  Smart short self test passes.
