Hi all,

Thanks for posting your concenrns. I was reading through this thread and was wondering you have tried the new BIOS update to see if there where changes to the touch input that took affect, Our teams had just released a BIOS update that that was released 4 days ago and could you give it a try and see if there are changes. The BIOS download can be found below.

Same result for me - updated BIOS but still losing touch frequently when in tablet or tablet+ mode.

I almost always have Onenote running in the background, so I can't confirm it's behaviour without Onenote running. I have tried both Onenote 2007 and 365 with no change in the loss of touch. Occasionally I've had touch spontaneously start working again for no obvious reason, but it never lasts long.

I never have One Note running in the background, so it most definitely is not specific to that application, if that helps. It also happens when in ultrabook mode for me. The only consistent thing I believe I observed so far is that it doesn't occur when the Helix is active, I only observed it after hibernations (and perhaps sleeps). Don't know if docking/udocking was necessary to make the problem appear.

Which onenote are you all using? The Metro er I mean Modern UI one from the store or the one that is part of Office 2013?

I have both, but never use the 2013 one, the Modern UI hasn't had any issues locking up, which I know doesn't help most of you.  The only issue I had was sometimes it will switch to text input but I just tap my finger then back to pen and it goes back.  I do mostly use the handwriting to text though and not my scribbles.

I am curious if there is perhaps some DLL's in the Office 2013 version that are preventing me from having the same issue.  Anyone else have both installed and having the problem?

In my case I'm using only OneNote 2013 (the desktop version).

Note that once it starts having this problem, it happens with all applications. In other words, it's not only happening in OneNote (although that's usually where it starts for me simply because that's 90% of what I'm doing with the Helix).

Maybe try using the metro version (if running windows 8) and see how it acts.  I found it WAY more stylus/digitizer friendly but that might just be a personal preference bit.

One note metro version is lacking features to make it usable for me.

Anyway as I said, the stylus problem is definitely not related to whether One Note is running or not. Perhaps it is related to the installation itself, but nothing says it's more likely than for any other app. :/

Re: Touch screen and pen/stylus stop working - Helix

I'm currently attempting to reproduce this issue in one of our labs.

Here is what I'm using:

Wacom Driver: 7.1.1-12

BIOS: 1.14

EC: 1.17

MPU: 1.14

All TVSU updates as of 6/11/13

Here are the steps I've taken to get anything that resembles this issue:

1. Turn on Helix

2. Remove Pen

3. Put Pen back into holder

4. Put computer to sleep

5. Wake up

6. Remove Pen and attempt to use

At this point I cannot use the pen unless I wait approximately 30 seconds. Then it works fine. Re-inserting the pen and removing does not resolve the issue.

I've tried using pdf annotator and just general use of the pen and have not had any problems so far.

I've read this entire thread several times and I've tried most of the suggestions. I'll try it with OneNote tomorrow if I get a chance. If any of you can give more exact steps on how you run into this issue, it would be much appreciated.
