What is the exact Expresscard slot on the X60T?

2008-07-04, 20:56 PM

I ask this because I'll be getting an Expresscard soundcard pretty soon (Probably a X-Fi Soundblaster and I need to make sure that the thing will fit into my tablet.

I'm not too keen on laptop specifications and I've heard that there are multiple sizes of the Expresscard slot. Coupled with the fact that most Lenovo's have very small form factors, I'm not sure if the Expresscard slot on the X60T is large enough for what I intend to put in it.

Again, this is a pretty simple inquiry, but I would rather not waste $60-$100 finding out the hard way.

There is no express card slot in X60/61 Tablet. In fact, it has only 32-bit PC card (PCMCIA).

You have to use something like Audigy 2 ZS in case you need for any extra sound system for your machine. IMO, it's too hot when using it. You will not be able to place your hand on palm rest comfortably.

In addition, you may find USB solution suit you better in this case, but I never have an experience with it.

Okay, wow, I feel dumb now: it specifically states in the specs sheet that it's PCMCIA, type I or type II.

I just thought that the PCMCIA slot was much larger than Expresscard and the slot looked small so that I I was convinced it must have been an Expresscard slot. Thanks for showing me my error.

Interesting, and the spec sheets say that it also supports Cardbus, whatever that is. Wow, I really should just looked at this. I really did believe it had to be an Expresscard slot for some reason.

Oh, and heat won't be an issue because I intend to use the laptop for playing keyboard in live gigs.
