Re: When is the Helix release date?

The data sheet does list an ambient sensor, Rick.  Of course that makes sense and is surely what Windows 8 uses, but I'm speculating some other software from Lenovo is also using it.  I'll dig.  I didn't uninstall any of the preinstalled Lenovo stuff; just Norton and SugarSync.

I also uninstalled Norton and using MS's included virus software.  have been using this on all mine and it works well.

Is the RAM on the 4GB model (or any model) user upgradeable?

I'm really REALLY enjoying everyone's participation in this thread. All the feedback is incredible and much appreciated!

Many thanks!

I believe the RAM is soldered in and not upgradeable.

Do the (sizable) black borders around the screen bother anyone?

With a tablet, if you didn't have the inactive bezel, you would be driven mad every time you picked it up or held it securely with one hand and it detected touches and did random things.

The bezel gives you a place to put your thumb to secure the tablet.   I've not seen a tablet without a substantial bezel, in fact this has one of the smaller ones I've seen.

What about the iPad Mini?  I was thinking of that when I first saw the borders in the video.

It's much lighter and requires less leverage from a finger /thumb on the front...you can hold it in one hand just on the edged.    With a larger, heavier tablet, you will need more overlap/leverage.    My Galaxy Note II has even less bezel and it's fine.

Holding it, I think they got it about right.

Regarding text, I have Desktop mode set to 125% in Control Panel and keep Chrome at 100% in Desktop mode, which is a bit small. In IE10, which is where I do most of my browsing since it works best with touch, I have it at 150%.

I don't think 100% would be very practical at this resolution and screen size.

I also have Desktop at 125%, which is about right to me.   100% would be too small.

I have Chrome set to 110% and find it great to use.     I had an Atom based tablet for a while and Chrome was a dog as far as scrolling.   It's much better on the Helix, although IE is still an overall smoother experience (but no adblock plugin, which I love for Chrome).

How does Maxthon Clouse Browser works with touch, if someone can try it?

I recently discovered this browser and it replaced Chrome and Firefox in every feature I liked about these, with more convenient use and some additional features, some of them being quite handy. I'm wondering how it would behave with touch.
