X1 Tablet Gen 3 Sticker identification

2019-10-03, 6:23 AM

Hello, I purchased a X1 Tablet Gen3 last week.

Does anyone know what this sticker is for? It was placed a couple of inches to the left of the camera lens, but I had to remove it to put on a screen protector. It's about 1cm square, a metallic foil like finish, was not to hard to remove, and had the symbol that I drew in the second image. It did not seem to be covering any opening. I tried to google, but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks

That was fast! Thanks.
Does the sticker just indicate its location or does it perform some vital role?

I am not 100% sure.  I think its just for location but you can test on yours with a cell phone?  Most newer cell phones have NFC capability.  Since you removed your sticker you can test?

Thanks, I had stuck in back on just in case.

For future reference, the sticker appears to just indicate where to tap on the tablet.

I'm not even sure where the transceiver is on the phone, but it's certainly not sensitive to the entire phone, only a small area of a square inch or so. So I think the positioning of the devices has to be reasonably precise. Maybe if you don't use it much, you forget where to tap, and end up hunting around the tablet for the transceiver to get devices to pair.
