X200t ordered with multitouch lacking multitouch

2009-11-06, 23:55 PM

Okay, for reference I've definately read the forums regarding the multi-touch versus dual touch terminology confusion (and in my mind a terrible misnomer). I placed my order on the 21st of October through the Canadian store linked from the x200 tablet features page regarding the enhanced mutli touch option. The model selected was the best of everything through the whole process.

The price went down the next day, so I called, cancelled my order, and reordered with the lower price. I received the first order anyway, so I called lenovo again today and they were quite helpful in getting the price adjusted (the specs were identicle besides windows 7 being preinstalled, but I have academic licenses anyway).

So I just finished wiping the preinstalled vista, installing windows 7 and all the drivers, and wanted to try out simpletap.

And I don't have multi touch. At least not as far as I can tell. Model number is 7448-CTO, Sn is xxxxxxxxxx right from the box beside me. I just called lenovo support and they can't even find the serial number, and asked me to call the sales people back monday.

So am I an idiot and just miss a driver? Am I an idiot and somehow manage to order the top of the line system and miss the option? I can't even list off my options as chosen from the packing slip, as it nor my emails list the options I've chosen.

I'm a little annoyed to say the least.

Note from Moderator:  Serial number removed for your protection.

Re: X200t ordered with multitouch lacking multitouch

One question.

Did you order multitouch and expected two fingers multitouch? Or the multiouch for use with pen and finger?

if you ordered the first one, Lenovo have been using the multitouch expression for pen/finger option a while. But now the "multitouch" are synonymous with the two finger option for most people.

Might not give you the right answer, just a thought.

I hope things settle out for you.

Re: X200t ordered with multitouch lacking multitouch

The long and the short of it was that I ordered the *enhanced* multi-touch x200t deliberately as they started advertising the new version.

I called this morning, and they are going to return the one I've receieved and reorder with the proper display.

I ordered my X200T last week and am affraid it is not the enhanced multi-touch.  No where online when I ordered or in my receipts does it say enhanced.  I called Lenovo and they said it was the enhanced version but my model number is 7448CTO.  After reading so much of this forum I am not sure I trust what they told me on the phone.  Here are my full specs - does anyone know for sure if I will be getting the enhanced multi-touch?

Re: X200t ordered with multitouch lacking multitouch

2009-11-19, 15:56 PM

I ordered mine with enhanced multi-touch, and then was concerned about the 7448CTO part number.

I'm hoping that the 44C9488  SBB 12.1"WIDMULFINGT.LEDWXGAPA

line item is the enhanced Multi-touch (two-finger touch).  I found this post by a search on the 44C9488

Probably wishful thinking, but I hope the MULFINGT means  multiple finger touch.

My ship date's been pushed back to 11/26, we'll see if it ships then.  I don't think they've shipped any of them yet!  One person on another board cancelled their lenovo order and ordered from a reseller, but didn't get the enhanced multi-touch they were expecting.  Just the Lenovo pen/finger equals multi-touch version.

First time here on the forum, think I'll be back!

My ship date is also 11/26, that is the original ship date for me as I ordered on the 12th.  As I said I called Lenovo, I also asked about my shipping date and in their system they don't actually have an estimated ship date yet - they said to call back next week.  If my ship date moves at all I will probably cancel my order and go with the Toshiba multi-touch or see what else is coming out.  I'm not one to forgive continuously bad customer service and this forum has scared me pretty good.  Let me know what happens with yours michele654 and I will do the same.

I know that you have already ordered something else butwhyowhy, but just wanted to post that my ship date was pushed to 12/21.  Cleo says they are having problems with the multi-touch screens.  I'll likely order a Fujitsu lifebook and cancel my lenovo order.  They seem to be having lots of problems with multi-touch, and I don't want my $2k to go into a problem hole.

Origional poster here,

I just shipped both of my incorrect laptops back today as the time was expiring on my returns. I still have yet to recieve a shipping notice on my proper multi-finger multi-touch that had an expected ship date of the 23rd and is stil AWOL.

I'm very happy with the customer service I've recieved regarding all the mistakes and corrections overall, and understand my situation was very rare and not typical at all, but it is now over 5 weeks from my origional order date and two from the date I discovered I had recieved the incorrect order. I'm really disheartened with Lenovo as a company overal with regard to the situation.

Michele,

Did you order your Fujitsu?  I haven't ordered anything yet but am very much considering the Fujitsu T4410.  I canceled my order with Lenovo last week although it still does not say canceled when I go to check the status online which worries me.  From what I am reading the touch screens from Lenovo are delayed at least another 30-40days althought they aren't really telling anyone this unless you ask the customer service person on the phone to go line by line on your order.

Re: X200t ordered with multitouch lacking multitouch

2009-12-04, 4:45 AM

I have run into the same realization. When I ordered by new tablet I used the canadian website, waited for a good deal to come up, and clicked my way through the "Multitouch" links and customized from there. I did everything right, and the order came up as saying the model was 7448CTO. Now in reading these forums, the true 2 finger mutlitouch is 7449(?). Once I got my machine, I soon realized it had no SimpleTap running and wacking my fingers on the screen was getting me nowhere.

I called customer service and explained that I should have gotten the multitouch screen. He said that's not what was on my order, but he believed me and would make the change and keep the price. He did warn me that the multitouch screens are on backorder of 4 weeks, and I said that was fine. I've got the machine they sent me packed back up and waiting for the email he promised with the UPS "sticker" so I can send it back, no charge.

Now reading these forums I am a little concerned about the "Problems" causing indefinite delays in shipment of the 2 finger multitouch models. Maybe I should just keep the nice machine they sent me. Maybe I should send it back, then cancel my order completely (because I was crazy to spend that kind of money) and go back to my X41tablet.

Whatever I decide, it looks like I will have to be patient, as nothing is moving that quickly in Customer Service these days.
