X61 Tablet Heat Issues Again

2008-02-22, 7:09 AM
I had a x60 tablet for 6 months. Good computer I should say (I am usually on my laptop 10 hrs a day) but it's palmrest used to heat up a lot. I sent it to Lenovo for something and they just upgraded the bios version and sent it back.

Slowly my right palm began to swell up with the heat and one fine day I gave the laptop away to a friend.

I then ordered the x61 tablet and got it a week ago.

Now this one is running close to 80 degrees.

What should I do? I guess over one of the weekends I can strip the laptop open and remove the wifi card, but again, is this what you expect after spending 2000$ on a brand new laptop?

why can't problems be fixed in 2 yrs (since the day x60t was launched)? Again I have used the X series from the X23, X31, X40, X60 and now X61. I also have the T60 and my wife has a R and Z series from work.

any advise? maybe I should sue Lenovo with my medical costs and ask for reimbursements.

no comments or suggestions anyone?

I met with my PCP today and he said I basically have overstimulation of heat receptors and it's definitely because of the hot tablet. He is supportive in general with me asking lenovo for a compensation.

good luck with that. every laptop out there gets pretty warm with heavy use. Drop the performance on your laptop and it'll run cooler, or buy a $5 fan. I think you'd be laughed out of a courtroom if you tried to collect for warm hands, especially given that you knew this was a problem once, but bought another laptop from the same outfit.

If you want cool hands, a laptop like this is not the way to go. Try something really low power, like those tiny ones that run linux.
