X61 Tablet, NO RECOVERY / OS CDs

2008-07-18, 4:45 AM

we I got my laptop recently, but there was no recovery or OS Cd for reinstalling?

I order the windows XP tablet, but COA is of vista. I know that now XP is not for sale. That's why Lenovo stick-ed it.

but what about Recovery or OS CDs?

Any suggestion?

hello as you have guessed microsoft has stopped selling licenses of xp ,for your recovery cds you have to make them on you own

go to thinkvantageand select "create rescue media" to create your recovery cds/dvds

As far as I know, you couldn't do that since there is no retail/OEM Windows XP Tablet PC disc really, it comes only in recovery cd.

Well I did a full system reinstall just using ThinkVantage. I don't think you need a disk at all.

I think a factory XP image is always on it, so if I remember correctly you just press the ThinkVantage button

when it is booting up and then you select some option to reinstall the entire system to factory settings

therefore erasing everything from your drive and installing a new copy of XP to run on.

This is especially good :) since X61Ts don't have CD drives and you would either have to purchase a

CD drive or buy the Ultrabase + Drive.

I have a X61Tablet w/XP Tablet easily did full system reinstall twice with just thinkvantage. No CD

nablich,

You can purchase the Recovery CDs for XP Tablet edition, simply by calling tech support and ordering them.  You need to provide them with your machine/type model number (MTM), serial number, and perhaps date of purchase.   The CDs will give you a clean factory install.
