X61 Tablet unable to use external monitor, bad VGA port?

2008-06-26, 19:56 PM
The external monitor says 'no connection'.  It works fine with another notebook (X31) I have.  X61 also does not work with InFocus projector.

is there anything else to try before sending it in for repair?

Thanks!

While you don't mention what actions you have already taken, I'm guessing that you have already checked the presentation settings.    Don't presume that your Thinkpad is set to run off a presentation monitor by default, the monitor port could be turned off.

Check the settings in both of the following:

Fn and select switch monitor off function keys

or

Start - Programs - Thinkadvantage - Presentation Manager

Also:

Right click on desktop -- Select Properties from dropdown -- Select  Settings tab -- Advanced

Full disclosure: Not a Lenovo employee, just someone with a X61 running Win XP SP2
