2008-03-06, 10:52 AM

I had bought a X61 Tablet a few months ago. It seems that it does not have bluetooth feature. Could I add this feature now? How?

According to the Lenovo website, your X61 Tablet type 7767-BBG already has Bluetooth build-in...

Product: ThinkPad X61 Tablet 7767-B8G
Operating system: All

Original description: L7500(1.6GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD Touchscreen, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 4c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32

...you may have to check if you have just to enable it on your tablet.

I did not configured my laptop. But I have noticed that the bluetooth is an option we have to select at the time of purchasing.
here is the site:
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/systemconfig.runtime.workflow:LoadRuntimeTree?sb=:00000025:00000165:&smid=329576204C9E42289967E79E0E7C9A2D
( you may notice this option in X61 Tablet Datasheet too)

Vista did not recognize any Integrated Bluetooth PAN in Device Manager and also I could not activate bluetooth in Control Panel->Bluetooth Device. So I need to know if I can add Integrated Bluetooth PAN at the moment?

If you don't have any Bluetooth module inside your X61T take a look into the System service parts lists and the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) under the points 3 (Bluetooth cable) and 7 (Bluetooth daughter card BDC-2) for your X61T, those do list the parts you would need and the HMM (see page 76 there) also gives you some advice how to install those parts.

Another alternative would be, to use just one of those cheap, small and compact Bluetooth USB-adapters from Trust or Hama...

See (in german) --> this info.

As vkyr wrote in his first post, according to the MT you have bluetooth. Have you tried turing it on by pressing Fn+F5?

I received my X61 two days ago, but I haven't opened it yet and I'm waiting to return it because I realized that I didn't add Bluetooth in my order. :smileysad:

I might as well be waiting until the end of March to finally get my hands on a X61. Doh.

The ThinkPad X61 Tablet model 7767-B8G is also listed on Lenovos website to have Bluetooth (BT), however I don't know if yours might have been configured differently here (without the BT module). When you remove the X61T keyboard and palmrest (...for advice see the above mentioned X61T HMM) you should know for sure if a BT module is included or not.

If you really don't have BT inside your 7767-B8G model, then you can include one optional yourself into the tablet (see above the mentioned parts) or as an alternative if you have a free USB port, plug in such a small external USB based BT adapter as shown above.
