x220t class note taking with wacom pen

2011-08-08, 16:12 PM

I'm planning on getting the x220t to use as a substitute for a paper notebook when I attend ucla in the fall as an engineering major. I was hoping someone who already owns one could do me a quick favor and give a little detail about how accurate/easy the note taking is with the wacom digitizer pen.

I'm going to have to take notes on gibberish like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green's_theorem#Proof_when_D_is_a_simple_region

so if someone could try to copy a bit of that down into OneNote (which is what I'll be using) and screenshot the results or something, and tell me how natural/intuitive it was compared to writing on paper, I would be endlessly appreciative =)

thanks in advance!

Hi there, here's an example taken from that Wiki link using the ink to math function in OneNote.

It took a few tries with using the select and correct tool to get it right.  It's a bit cumbersome to do on the fly while taking notes so you would probably end up writing down your notes and then cleaning them up after class using the ink to math tool.

I'd be perfectly willing to do that, if anything it'll help me to go over my notes again, thanks!

I'm assuming that there is a way to write it all down and run it through ink-to-math later, but even if there wasn't it shouldn't be a big deal to copy it over

the math function in One note is great once you get used to it. I've used ON for the last 4 years, including a few classes w/the math func. You car always go back and re-write notes using the linked note functionality and having both pages open
