Hi, I am trying to buy a new Helix in the U.S. buy the sales people keep telling me the hard drive is only available in up to 256GB, which matches the website. However I do not understand why I have the two different offcial sources indicating a 512GB is available. Search within the links for "512"
Any help very much appreciated.

You're right, it definitely lists 512GB on there. Not that this helps, but they are REALLY bad about correcting errors on their web pages. A month ago I pointed out several confusing mistakes on the site, and so far nothing has been fixed. Pretty bad.

Just to contribute to even more confusion, this German retail site http://www.ok1.de/Lenovo-ThinkPad-Helix-II-20CG0019GE--914.html is listing a Helix 2 model with 512GB M.2 SSD...

I think I finally understood how Lenovo handles this.
Lenovo published separate specs por the US and the Western Europe markets.
Here the specs for the the US market:
For Helix 2nd Gen, see in page 16 table "ThinkPad Helix 20CG (TopSeller)"
Here the specs for the the Western Europe market:
For Helix 2nd Gen, see in page 21 table "ThinkPad Helix 20CG (TopSeller)"
As shown in the specs above, for the US market it is expected they will sell about 17 different configurations, none of the them with 512 PCie hard drive. They currently (as of Feb 2015) sell however only two configurations and the top configuration is 20CG000QUS as Lenovo confirmed to me over the phone. I assume they will be rolling out the other configurations later on, for example the configuration with the option to have microSIM (and WWAN card) to use mobile data is listed but not yet available.
For the Western European market, there is indeed a 512GB PCie hard drive option listed, I think that is why there is some information online about that maximum hard drive capacity being offered.
If someone is in the US and definately wants the 512GB, one option I think would be to buy it in a market like the UK (if you buy in Germany for example I think Windows may be preloaded in gernan), and just ship it to the US, because as far as warrantly goes the laptop will be covered as Lenovo has some sort of "global warrantly" or support, Lenovo confirmed to me.

And here we go with the first offer mentioning the 512 GB SSD (PCIe x4): LENOVO® ThinkPad Helix 2 notebook model 20CG-0019.

Im going to be attempting to install the new Samsung 950 Pro 512GB PCi Express SSD into my helix, which has the Samsung MZ-NTE2560 256GB SATA III SSD as OEM.

I honestly just cracked open the back cover, took out OEM Samsung SSD, then put in Samsing 950 Pro SSD. Stuck a Windows 8.1 flash drive in, and installed. Drivers loaded automatically.
