Fingerprint reader on my new X201t practically unusable

I was just wondering whether other X201(t) owners experience the same:

the fingerprint reader on my new X201t is practically useless! I have trained it now maybe 10 times and it still almost never recognizes my fingerprints (I trained it each time with both thumbs and both index fingers). The fingerprint reader on my previous X60p were a snap in comparisson and it usually took me at most two attempts and I was logged in. But with the X201t t it often takes 5 and sometimes even 10 attempts and this thing still hasn't recognize me.

Is there some trick or tweak to make that thing usable?

Michael

Mine usually recognizes my finger prints on the first swipe.

It is directional, so you have to swipe your finger in the same direction that you originally recorded it in.

Re: Fingerprint reader on my new X201t practically unusable

Thanks for the response. The direction can't be the issue with mine - I am using it in the same position and direction as I trained it. But your remark lets me at least hope that it "could" work better. Guess, I need to retrain again, then...

Re: Fingerprint reader on my new X201t practically unusable

Hi!

Just gotta say, I Simply Love this Tablet!

Ok,  I had the same problem when using my fingerprint reader.  Easily remedied though...  First, the reader IS Bidirectional; I just tested it.

Second, open the Thinkvantage Fingerprint Software from the control panel; this is the same place you set up your fingerprints.  Click the SETTINGS near the top of the window.  In the settings, select the BIOMETRY tab and verify you have selected CONVENIENT LEVEL and not the Secure Level.  That took care of the problem for me.  Apparently, the secure level is very very picky.

That's an EXCELLENT suggestion : I wasn't aware of this option.

I am going to check it right now ... on my X200 Tablet ... I hope it is the same setting there.

Will keep you posted Smiley Wink

YES!

I have it too: it is the slider at the bottom of the configuration tab.

Great, thanks again Smiley Wink
