Gobi 2000 3G module questions

2010-11-08, 11:03 AM

2 questions about the Gobi 2000 3G w/GPS module available as an option for X201T:

Is it mounted inside the computer, or is it an extension card occupying an ExpressCard slot?

Also, when I select Gobi 2000 in the configurator on the Lenovo UK website, there appears a non-optional element "Open SIM Card: WW". So I wonder, what does "WW" mean?

Hi Axure!

Yes the Gobi 2000 is inside the X201T. You'll find it in the Hardware Maintenance Manual.

"Open SIM Card: WW" means that there is no country/carrier-specific SIM card included (WW=WorldWide).

Hope this helps!
