I have a Thinkpad Helix 36984SU, which is a model that doesn't come with a WWAN card. I googled this a bit, and found out that some Helix models come without the WWAN antennas or the SIM slot. Mine does have the SIM slot, but when I tried to install a WWAN card (Gobi 4000), I couldn't find the antenna cable.
1. Is it possible that I have the SIM slot but no WWAN antenna? (Or maybe I just missed the cable and should look more thoroughly)?
2. Does anybody know if the 36984SU model specifically has the antennas? Is there any way I could check this without removing the entire mainboard? (I trust myself enough to install the WWAN card, but removing the mainboard seems too much)
3. Would I gain anything by installing the Gobi without antennas (such as GPS functionality), or should I just return it?
Thanks a bunch.

The system specifications of your ThinkPad Helix doesn’t say either WWAN ready or WWAN capable.
Hence, it seems you don’t have the antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory. These will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model).
