New X1 Tablet - Lenovo Companion Won't Update Tablet

Brand new X1 Tablet - Product Number: 20GG001NUS

Did the Windows 10 update - All went fine.

Tried to do the Lenovo update through Lenovo Companion - System Update keeps coming back with: "There is a problem in retrieving new Updates. Please try again later."

I have been trying all day with same results.

Any suggestions?

Re: New X1 Tablet - Lenovo Companion Won't Update Tablet

Update: The manual update never did run without error. I finally turned on the "Schedule Lenovo Updates" and eventually some updates were loaded but they all failed on install. At least that's what the log says. I never did see these being downloaded or installed.

The manual update check now runs and it has identified a number of updates to install. One updated didn't install but I didn't see a way to see what update was the problem.

A reboot was required.

Now I see the following updates failed:
Intel Integrated Sensor Solution
Intel Management Engine 11.0
ThinkPad Settings Dependency - 10
ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration Pkg Setup
Keyboard Firmware
Synaptics Viper Touch Fingerprint

I'm surprised at the number of failed installs. This is Lenovo's own software on a brand new machine and it isn't doing the job.

I just had it manually check for updates and it says: No updates available. Your System is up to date. I am totally confused now, an update can fail the install and not show up the next time you check for updates. I think the Lenovo software is lacking something here.

I'll keep plugging and see what happens.

Re: New X1 Tablet - Lenovo Companion Won't Update Tablet

You can check out if this service "Lenovo Solution Center System Service" is running.

-press Windows+R keys

-services.msc <enter>

-look at the status of "Lenovo Solution Center System Service"

-ensure it's running (or attempt to restart this service)

-run the Lenovo Companion again

-System Update > Check for New Updates
