Could be power manager that deactivates WiFi after a certain time in order to save energy. Check your power settings if the device is allowed to shut down...

Lenovo's 'Access Connections' is a pain...  I've had the same problems and just restarted my PC to solve the issues (wifi radio turning itself off, and not being able to turn it back on via fn + f5). I tried uninstalling Access connections to see if that would work, but after a few restarts it was back to the same problem of being unable to turn on my wifi radio without restarting the pc..

I'll keep trying to troubleshoot and post info on any success i have if i find it.

I have this same problem, it has happened a few times to me already today on an x201s.  Never noticed it before because I was docked with a network cable.

I turned off the wireless shutdown, hopefully that does the trick.  I would have never noticed this setting if you didn't mention it.

Ok, that didn't work.  What I tried was going to device manager and going to the properties of the wireless card.  From there, you can disallow power management from turning off your wireless radio.  I'm going to try uninstalling all of the thinkpad wireless and power management now.

Might have figured it out, wireless has been up since my last post.  Removed the Intel wireless drivers in addition to the changes listed above.  Thinkpad access connections is still installed.  Must have been some conflict between access connections and the Intel connection management.

Yup, it has been working fine since.  Just go your add/remove programs in control panel and remove the Intel wireless drivers.  There are a bunch of them that you can download from the Lenovo support site, I probably just downloaded and installed all of them when I built the system (bad idea).
