Pressure sensitivity on X230T and trouble with Photoshop

2013-03-21, 16:05 PM

Would anyone know how many levels of pressure sensitivity there are on the X230T?

I ask this because I have just installed Photoshop CS6 and I seem to have many issues sketching.  I will be drawwing a series of light lines and then suddenly a big fat line will appear, I will continue sketching and this will happen over and over again.

I am very frustrated since I bought this specifically for Photoshop.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  I already turned off the "hold pen down to right click" feature, but I continue to have this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe this could help:

http://www.howtomakeonline.org/EAiRjMoney7gb1yD/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X230T-Touch-And-Digitizer-Pen-Input.html

In this 256 levels of pressure sensitivity are mentioned (which would make sense, because it would point to an 8bit ADC in the digitzer for pressure measurement).

If you don't trust this number (as I would do, because it is mentioned only in one occasion in the web (or google search ;-) )) then you could also check the Wacom site for their more low end products and their specs.

OH! I also use the same tablet, I draw in adobe illustrator, and actively use pressure sensitivity feature. I can say, that it works here much better than on a wacom Bamboo tablet, that I used previously.

I want to purchse a X230T for my daughter who is art school. Do you like it? Does it work well with photoshop, illustrator and poser?

Specific to the pressure point and table function. A laptop and Wacom table is too cumbersome.

Also, do you have windows 7 or windows 8 on your system?

Yes it works! I work in photoshop and illustrator, pressure sensivity is very good. You need to calibrate the pen first, and then determine the tip feel of the pen closer to "firm" - in this position the range of sensitivity is wider. The blob brush in illustrator works wonderful!! I have windows8, and don't use fingers at all. I use pen and a mouse.

I bought an X230t in June 2012 so I've used it for about a year now and I  don't think it represents what professional class tablets should offer.

If you are used to consumer class tablets , you'll be happy with it but if you are used to professional class machines you might want to reconsider.
