Problem with Hard Drive Lock Password After Replacing Drive (X230 Tablet)

2013-06-13, 20:16 PM

I replaced the hard drives in two X230 tablets today (HGST Z7K320-320, replacing with the same). Everything seems fine, but when the system reboots, it prompts for the hard drive lock password again (normally, it would just reboot without prompting). That wouldn't be a huge deal, but for whatever reason, it simply will not recognize the drive lock password. If I power it down and enter it, then everything is fine, the password is recognized and Windows boots normally. This is a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit btw.

I'm not sure why it's doing this, but the fact that two are having the same issue means something else needs to be done. Both replacement drives are new drives, and I set the drive lock password for both after installation. Has anyone encountered anything like this?
