I recently received my Lenovo x61 tablet and could not figure out why
it was showing only 2 GB of RAM. (I ordered 4 GB Installed).
I opened the back of the unit up to see why the system showed only 2 GB.
Low and behold only one 2 GB stick of ram was installed...
My question is that when I was looking at the memory slots I saw what looked like a small SD card
slot below the left (installed) RAM module. Does anyone have any ideas what that SD memory slot is for?

welcome to the forum!
the small slot you see is for a SIM card to be used with GSM-based WWAN models. the X61T has an SD card slot on the left side underneath the cardbus slot.
regarding the memory, plug your machine type and serial number into this page and see if it lists one or two modules. if you see only one module in the list and have an order showing that two 2GB modules were ordered, call lenovo sales at 866-42-THINK and inform them of the error.

Thanks for the quick answer!
Great website for checking shipped products!!!
Am I bound to any specific cell carrier for the wwan?
Do you recommend any that are better than others. I want to use the unit on the road for emails...

lenovo WWAN configurations offer a choice between verizon and AT&T. the cards are unique to each carrier. switching carriers would require a new card and that can be expensive if the card isn't purchased with the system.
i don't have any personal experience with either carrier so you'll have to do some homework on who offers the best service, rates, and coverage in your area.
