My ThinkPad X230tSuddenly stopped working on battery and works only on charger plugged in. I thought the problem was with the batter so I brought a replacement. I replaced the battery with the new one, but it didn't work, so I thought the battery was empty. I connected the charger and charged the batter full for an hour or so till it was 100% charged, yet, when I unplugged the charger the laptop was dead.
What could be the problem?

Two possible causes come to mind and neither is good. There is a 7-amp fuse for the current coming from the battery that is separate from the smaller charging fuse. There is also an array of power transistors that controls switching between AC and battery. Some independent repair places can change the fuses, but not many. Both problems usually require a motherboard replacement.
