Touch functionality stopped working

I have an X230t that is only a few days old.  As I was using the computer this evening, suddenly the touch screen stopped responding to input from either my fingers or the stylus.

 

Has anyone had a similar experience?  Any suggested remedies?

Today was the first time it happened.  I've been using my computer for about seven days now.

 

After re-starting Windows, the touch screen functionality returned.  Of course, if this turns out to be a one-off occurance, it will be no big deal.  But it was disconcerting enough that I wanted to engage with the forum community to find out if this is somewhat common, and, if so, what I can do about it.

 

One other thing... I noticed in Windows Update that there is an "Optional" update available that says, "Lenovo - Display - Wide viewinq angle & High density FlexView Display 1366x768".  To this point I have not chosen to downlaod this update, because I assumed that since this is such a new machine, it must have come from Lenovo with the very latest drivers.  I don't want to foul things up by installing an "optional" driver from Microsoft.

It happened again this evening.  I was using my computer in slate mode with my finger and all of a sudden, the touch functionality stopped working.  I tried with the stylus... same thing.   When this happened two days ago, I resolved it by restarting the computer, but this is not an acceptible long-term solution. I was hoping to find an answer in the forums, before I contact Lenovo support.  I trust Lenovo support will have an answer.

Hi Ron_9972,

 

Thanks for these suggestions.  I installed two of the drivers you suggested.  (The other one was already current.)  I'll see how things go for a few days.  If the problem doesn't reoccur, I'll come back and mark the issue as "solved".
