Hello,

 

i try to get my 1x4GB Samsung RAM to work in my laptop. But no chance. Everytime if i put in the RAM in the laptop and try to boot, it permanently beeps. I have tried the RAM Modul in single operation in both slots.

 

Its the followin RAM:

 

Samsung m471b5173bh0-ck0

 

Any idea why it wont work? :(

Welcome to the forum!

 

That's a DDR3-12800 memory chip, this type of memory doesn't work in Thinkpads X201 (and same/older generation) you should try to get a DDR3-8500 or DDR3-10600 module instead.

Thank your for the quick reply.

I have 2x2GB 12800 RAM Moduls inside at moment. They work without any problem. I think they get downclocked by the system. So it seems the the system cant handle with 1x4GB 12800 :( **bleep**

I had problems with some 2GB DDR3-12800 Hynix modules

 

As a rule of thumb I avoid DDR3-12800 in anything prior xx30 generation. Just to be on the safe side
