X1 Extreme Gen 2: Dolby vision not authorized

2019-10-20, 3:38 AM

My new x1 extreme Gen 2 came with Dolby vision installed. Last night when I tried to watch a movie on Netflix (El camino a breaking bad movie) the video was blocked by a message "dolby vision is not authorized on this computer uninstall it and this message will go away" or something to that effect. I uninstalled dolby vision and watched the movie. But what gives? Is Dolby vision that came with the computer some kind of pirate software? How can I reinstall an authorized version? Thanks

Where are the drivers for Dolby vision for my machine?

They are not on the Lenovo website for this machine.

I had the same problem with my P1 Gen2. I couldn't watch netlflix and ended up uninstalling Dolby Vision. How can we make Dolby Vision work?

I have the same issue for my Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2.

When I turn on "Play HDR Games and Apps" in "Display Settings" and attempt to launch Netflix and play an HDR title on Netflix (tested with 'Our Planet'), I'm presented a black screen with the message "Dolby Vision playback is not authorized on this machine" with the audio for the movie/show playing in the background.

At the same time, even with the "Play HDR Games and Apps" turned on, if I play a non HDR title in Netflix, it plays normally.

When I turn off "Play HDR Games and Apps" this message goes away and the HDR capable video plays normally.

I assumed this was due to receiving a defective laptop and I requested a replacement, however, my new laptop is also having the same issue.
