Update X1 Tablet Gen 3 SSD failure: I've replaced the SSD and I've reinstalled windows. Tips: There are two small screws, one in the fan vent and one in the SD card slot. The SSD is under the shield opposite the fan. It's wrapped and is held by a sticker on the connection end.

The update downloaded, then proceeded and showed a message that it was successful. Then it asked me to restart the computer and then the whole thing never cam back to life......

Update II: The tech guy was back, replaced yet another motherboard, not we are back to the state before the service call. Surprise! They noew ordered a new SSD. Seriously.......you can't make this stuff up.

We are still working on data recovery plan. My understanding is that it is technically possible to recover data, but it's not clear to me yet whether it is something you can do yourself, or if it has to be done in a Lenovo lab. Can you please tell me what country you are in? I don't have access to the registration data you provided when you registered on the forum.

Update III: Surprise! The third visit was a success. Replacing the SSD brought the tablet back to life! However, the onsite tech guy will only do hardware. He left me with an empty SSD with no windows, nothing. He said its my responsibility to reinstall everything. Will Lenovo pay me for that time?
