X200 tablet: Purchased internal Bluetooth card and it is not working?

I want to add an internal bluetooth card to an X200 tablet model 7450.  After talking to someone in the Lenovo parts dept they gave me two part numbers that should work 44C9696 and 60Y3213.  I ordered one 60Y3213 installed the card, and it's not working.

I'm thinking that only 44C9696 works with my model.

The hardware maintenance manual lists 44C9696 for use with the 7450 and 60Y3213 for use with different models.

This site seems to say the same thing

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Bluetooth_with_Enhanced_Data_Rate_%28BDC-2.1%29

The card I ordered did not come with a cable either.  Though I am able to plug it in directly to the system board and fit the palm rest on.

Can this tablet that did not come with a bluetooth card support bluetooth?

Two things worry me:

I don't see bluetooth listed in the device I/O section of the BIOS

I don't see a bluetooth light on the display.

So my question is; did I simply get the wrong part or does this model not support bluetooth at all?

Bluetooth can be added like you did.  Did you install the driver for it?  Fn + F5 should bring up your WLAN and Bluetooth if you have the hotkeys installed and you turn it on and off from there.

And it doesn't take a cable, it plugs right into the board like you did.

Re: X200 tablet: Purchased internal Bluetooth card and it is not working?

I did install the bluetooth drivers.  The laptop does not seem to recognize it.  Not even in Device Manager.

Pressing fn + f5 only allows me to turn on and off the wireless card.  Bluetooth is not showing up here either.

Besides the fact that I know the card is in there, the computer gives me no indication that it is installed.  I have opened it up and reseated as well.

Maybe you need the other card.  Older thinkpads were able to use cards from other models, but i'm not too sure about the newer ones.  Maybe the card is model # specific.

Hi capsaicin!

You need the Power Management Drivers installed as well for Fn-F5 to power the Bluetooth on and off.

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

long wait, but I'll follow up if anyone else runs into this.

I did exchange parts for the other bluetooth adapter listed in this thread.  The new adapter works just fine.
