X200 tablet WiFi

2013-10-28, 7:00 AM

hi, I'm new so be nice.

I made an attempt to put a mini centrino WiFi card into my Tablet but it responded with non authorised card present.

card is  FRU-6Y3231 and the tablet is X200, 7450-RM9, looking at the parts listings it should be OK.

I have try to put the card into the empty second PCI slot next to the HD, it install the drivers, but complains about the master switch no being ON , even the bluetooth is on, FN5 shows all systems go but no WiFi light. so not happy.

Any ideas what I need to do

Thanks

Pete

The X200t doesn't use a half length miniPCIe wireless card. The Intel 5100 and 5300 cards used in these systems are full length.

hi Jin,

thanks for that, I have ordered the 5100 card.

on this subject, there are 2 PCI mini slots one next to the hard drive and the other underneath the palm rest. They do behave differently, the one close to the HD lets me load the drivers, but no joy with turning the WiFi on, I'm guessing, there is a pin that makes all the difference, as usual previously IBM had similar tricks in store for T series laptops, just theirs stuff will work. , I was looking at the Lenovo X200 maintenance manual and it is very confusing what card goes where. I guess they don't care much about it now , when this model is considered old.

Full length mPCIe slot is for WWAN, and the half length mPCIe is for intel turbo memory.
