X200t: Qualcomm Gobi for Windows 7 / Verizon WWAN card

2009-05-08, 3:15 AM

I have a built-in Verizon WWAN card in my x200t - and the vista Qualcomm Gobi drivers don't work under Win7 even if compatibility is set to Vista and run as admin selected.

Has anyone been able to get this card to work under Windows 7? I've been unsuccessful with it in build 7000 and 7100.

Thanks.

Jim Wynn

Jim,

I hope you have this working by now, but if not you should know the Lenovo have released Windows 7 Qualcomm BETA drivers, which (at least for my W500) seems to be working fine.

You'll find the Win 7 BETA page here and the Qualcomm beta drivers here (ThinkPad UNDP Wireless WAN Driver)

I had to uninstall the drivers I had installed from Vista, and then install these. After that , since I have a Ericsson F3507g, I also had to install the Ericsson drivers as well - don't know if this is relevant for yoy.

I have this running on Lenovo W500 installed with Win 7 x64 build 7100 and build 7232.

Hope this helps,

Zorroson ;)

In my experience, the new driver works fine with Win 7 RC 32 bit but not at all w/ the 64 bit version.  As a result, I'm now running 32 bit Windows 7 again.

You're testing Win7? do you really think that it has everything you need or are you just trying to get attention? Win7 is not ready for intro let alone prime-time.Try waiting for drivers that are WHQL'd before you complain it doesn't work.

Does this Qualcomm Gobi WWAN card include integrated GPS?  (ie. is the Gobi 1000 or Gobi 2000 card???)

I know Lenovo offers a Gobi-Qualcomm card for X200 tablet for use on Verizon (Lenovo P/N 57Y4485).  But I recently learned via Internet searchs that the "Gobi 1000/2000" cards features GPS capability (see www.GobiAnywhere.com) as well as world wide compatibility with foreign 3G netoworks.  Verizons accesory website makes no mention of GPS or international 3G capability.  I am also trying to learn what this difference is between the Gobi 1000 and Gobi 2000 card.

Please help if you know anyting about X200 Tablet WWAN with GPS for Verizon Broadband.  You may also contact me via email:  c_cline at bellsouth.net.  I want to upgrade my X200 Tablet and would like GPS and international portability if this is possible.

I know the Gobi 2000 supports 3G operation on the 900MHz band, which is increasingly being used outside North America, while the Gobi 1000 doesn't support it.  There may be other differences as well.

Cheers,

re: Gobi 2000 in x200 tablet

Anyone having luck getting the Gobi 2000 to work in an x200 tablet?

I found the BIOS whitelist error when I tried and have been reading about Zender's BIOS fix.

I heard that Gobi 2000 is not compatible with x200t.

Don't know why? But, x200(s) is fine with it???

It's a bios issue as the Gobi card is not included in approved WWAN cards on x200t's peripheral white list.  There is a workaround but it sounds like your machine is working just fine.

Let's hope Lenovo will release a new BIOS to fix this issue as I can't find Gobi 1000 anymore.
