Fingerprint reader fails after system joins a domain --- ThinkPad security

Ever since I joined my laptop to a domain, I can't seem to login with my fingerprint. 


I can set up fingerprints in the Fingerprint Manager, which also accepts my set up fingerprints for the password to this application.


However, whenever I try to login to Windows using my fingerprint it will either say "Failed" or "Bad". It will flash green from time to time but do nothing. 


You need to enable domain Logon in Biometric Settings.

  • Go to: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Biometric Devices
  • Click: Change Biometric Settings
  • Click both: 
  • Allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprint, and Allow users to log on to a domain using their fingerprints
  • Restart the computer.
  • Click: 'Switch user' at the log on screen and choose the fingerprint icon (this of course requires you to first have added a set of fingerprints to your account)
  • Swipe your finger. At this point nothing happens. The screen remained active with the fingerprint icon and a password field.
  • Now type your password and your'e logged on 
  • Now restart your computer and voila! your fingerprint is accepted and a password is no longer required.
