X201T with Gobi 2000

Hi Everyone

Question to the forum:

I've got X201T with Gobi 2000, and an EVDO subsciption.

Currently using the USB modem that comes with the subscription, and trying to use the Gobi.

I cannot connect to the provider (SMART TELECOM) using Access Connection software from Lenovo.

The error I get is "SIM card found. Unable to retrieve IMSI."

What am I missing here?

Cheers

Nick

Re: X201T with Gobi 2000

Take out your battery from your tablet. Check behind your tablet to see if there's a simcard inserted in the simcard slot. That may be what's causing you the problem with SIM card found. If it's there, remove it.

How else would you connect without the simcard?

Re: X201T with Gobi 2000

Although not directly related to your problem there is a discussion on Access Conections and using diffrent sim cards in this thread Access Conections + SMS

After modifying the xml file for access connections, as detailed in the other thread,  I can now get my O2 sim card to be recognised

In the USofA you can use the Gobi without a SIM card with a certain service provider (can't remember the details).

Re: X201T with Gobi 2000

Been reading a lot of forum messages

I think I know the problem: the CDMA / EV-DO part is locked to AT&T / Verizon

Now does the forum know how to unlock this?

Re: X201T with Gobi 2000

You'll have to call into Lenovo techsupport or the phone company to help you troubleshoot.
