I tried using the registry hack in Windows 8 to stop my battery charging higher than 95%, and was sucesful. however this has also had the effect of meaning that when I plug the charger in when the laptop is on, it says "plugged in, not charging".
If I turn the laptop off, or put it into Standby, then plug the charger in, it starts charging fine and continues to do so after turning it back on.
I have tried re-installing Windows 8.1 (and not installed any of the power management drivers) incase it was a driver problem, however this has not fixed it.
If there is some way to completly reset the battery controller (i'm not sure if the chip that does this is in the battery of laptop) then I would be very glad to know.
