X240 786p touchscreen upgrade

2019-03-11, 19:06 PM

Hi!

I wonder:

Is it possible to change display to 1080p  and keep the touch function?

Many thanks

Possible, yes. Usually takes time and $...

Per lenovo the X240 had the following display options:

  • 12.5" HD (1366 x 768)
  • 12.5" HD IPS (1366 x 768)
  • 12.5" FHD IPS (1920 x 1080) with Multitouch

I was not able to find anything on the HMM (hardware mantinance manual), with different part numbers

More than likely you will need a few things and the cost might exceed the cost of purchasing a used unit. Seems the HD version was popular on the touch, not so much for the FHD multitouch.

Here is a starting point that will give you the multi-touch screen part number:

Thanks. I have to look into this. Just scored a pretty nice price x240, thus it seems to have a bit ghosting in display, so there would be "good" reason to upgrade the display.

And have to be honest, this HD screen, even tough ips is pretty lackluster in 2019, otherwise this is very nice piece of laptop. Even runs photoshop pretty easily.

So, if i find an 1080 x240 panel it should be drop-in upgrade and would keep the touch function also

Thanks for very fast response.
