the constant beeping should suggest an error on the motherboard. I don't think it would be worth the effort for you to take the laptop to a specialists, unless they are Thinkpad specialists, the cost to fix your problem is probably worth more than your laptop itself. 

 

So use it as it is, you will never know the laptop will permanently die on you, so save all your work on a sd or a usb where you can.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if it gets better!

 

And by the way, it's actually a Lenovo X60t not a X60 as I said it was before in a previous post. I didn't realise the 't' stood for 'tablet'!
