X61 Tablet is suddenly dead

I was using a Thinkpad X61 tablet for several years. A few days ago, I found the tablet cannot be turned on. I can hear some small noise when I use battery to boot it. This noise sounds like comes from the battery and the mothboard maybe. It is not the sound of the fan. While switching to the AC supplied mode, the noise is disappeared. I tried many times to power the computer on, but it cannot be turned on.

I have been experiencing such a wired problem before, but I resumed the computer successfully by pressing and releasing the power button for many times without a battery/AC power before with power supply. But now I forget how to manipulate in details and failed to power the computer on after many trials.

Hopefully, I can get a solution here. Thanks for your attention.

Best wishes,

Xiaodong

Re: X61 Tablet is suddenly dead

Have you tried using another AC adapter for your X61? I'd try that first if you haven't; I had a laptop once that wouldn't power on and it was the adapter. It's worth a shot.

Re: X61 Tablet is suddenly dead

Hello i2000s,

I'm glad to see that akinvic solved your problem.

Another thing to when a laptop will not power on or if it is unresponsive and won't power off is to remove the power cord and the battery, then hold the power button and count slowly to 10.  This is the power reset for a computer.

Sometimes when a computer has one of the problems listed above, the computer has power stored in its body.  The power reset releases any excess power trapped in the laptop.

Hope this helps,

Alex

Re: X61 Tablet is suddenly dead

This worked for me to, i.e. the video suggests:

1. Remove power cord and take out battery.
2. Press-release power button 10 times during 10 seconds.
3. Press and hold power button for 30 seconds.
4. Put battery back and plugin power cord.
5. Start computer.

It may be that the suggestion of  'alex1906':

1. Remove power cord and take out battery.
2. Press and hold power button and count slowly to 10.
3. Put battery back and plugin power cord.
4. Start computer.

would be enough.

For the record, I posted a summary on this problem/solution to http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?

Thanks,
