vga output not working

Hi all,

Wondering if any of you have suggestions.  It seems as though the VGA output on my laptop doesn't push an image through.  My monitor recognizes that something is connected but only a black screen shows.  When I switch it to the vga port on my docking station, everything works just fine.  Any ideas for next steps?

Thanks!

Re: vga output not working

When docked the VGA port on your X is disabled, does this happen when it's not docked?

Re: vga output not working

[ Editado ]

When I use the Fn-F7 to switch it doesn't seem to work when I'm undocked either.  I've been noticing this at work as well.

I just tried something but what's interesting though is that if I set the laptop to extend to the external monitor it worked.  When I disabled the extension and tried Fn-F7 again it seems to work fine.

Shouldn't it work on the first go?  I should mention that this was never originally an issue - it seems to have popped up at some point in the past month or so.

Re: vga output not working

Normally, yes it should work on the first go, but that's computing - everyday a new experience Guiño

Re: vga output not working

I'll check with technical support I guess ... it's annoying since you know it's standard functionality that should work on all laptops.

Thanks!
