TS430 RAID (MegaRAID SAS 9240) with opensuse linux

Hello,

does someone have experiences with the MegaRAID SAS 9240-8i under openSUSE 12.1

or any other linux system with kernel 3.1.0?

I have problems to get status information from MegaCli or MegaRaid Storage Manager.

The raid-syste was configured using webbios and the OS was installed correctly on its virtual disk (RAID-1).

I am using the megaraid_sas kernel module shipped with opensuse 12.1 (kernel 3.1.0-1.2),

but the MegaCli tool (8.02.16) reports, that it cannot find any controller:

/opt/MegaRAID/MegaCli/MegaCli64 -adpCount
Controller Count: 0.
Exit Code: 0x00

Thanks for any hint or advice!

Kind regards,

S.

Re: TS430 RAID (MegaRAID SAS 9240) with opensuse linux

This is not a supported OS for this system. Part of the reason a lack of OS support exist due to lack of vendor support of this OS as LSI does not provide a driver for this version of SUSE. The latest they have is MegaRAID SAS Driver -SLES 11, Version 4.37.   You can find the support for this card on the following: http://www.lsi.com/support/products/Pages/MegaRAIDSAS9240-8i.aspx
