re: TD230 - fails to Boot Windows 2008 server os from Raid drive

Hi All,

I have two Thinkserver TD230 with 4 sas raid 5 hdd configured as one virtual hdd with 2 partitions runninf windows 2008 server os. Server 1 DC and server 2 is member server.

Everythiong was fine until yesterday when a power filre shut the computer down.

Since then the DC server starts  the boot process but does not progress further, whereas server 2 is fine.

The windows repair menu option does not find the raid disks until I add the raid device driver.

I can then see the disks and access them via the command prompt (  from the repair menu).

It seem there is an initial 100mb parition which boots up and is supposed to load the device drivers and then load the main windows OS from the Raid partition.

It looks like the raid driver fails to load and therefore the OS does not boot.

I have tried the repair option  several times without success.

I am reluctant to restore from a backup image as it is a few days old.

Is there any way to fix this boot problem?
