the HGST Ultrastar drives have not been validated, so I can't say for certain how well they work / don't work. Let us know if you find an answer.

I recently purchased a TS440 ThinkServer e3-1245, installing a Crucial MX200 500gb SSD in an adapter, booting Win 7 Pro 64.  Also installed  four HGST 2GB hard drives, two UltraStar 7K3000 and two DeskStar 7K4000.  All were recognized immediately and all function as expected.  I'm using this unit as a workstation, so these are not configured as RAID, though I'm sure they could be.

This helped me too

Thanks, I appreciate your answer, I have use HGST Drives for years but never had a real server.  I' looking at the ts440 also and plan on putting in a couple od 4 TB.  I probably won't use RAID as I don't need redundacy or high availability, just back it up daily.  I'm also going to use Crucial UDIMM's.
