TS 150 PCIe X4 M.2 Question

2018-02-12, 20:53 PM

Hi,

I've been running my TS150 on Windows Server 2016 without any issue for around 6 months. Last week the server failed - it could no longer recognise the boot disk.

I'd been quite happily using a bootable WD Black M.2 card in a Startech PCIe to M.2 adaptor plugged into the motherboard all this time.

My first thought was it was the startech adaptor, which I've replaced with a new one but I'm still getting a "bootable media not found message" and the drive isn't found in the BIOS.

Before I assume the WD M.2 Card has failed (not that likely but it may have) is there anything else I can check on the server?

Many thanks,

Andrew

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the reply. I'm running BIOS FWKT62A.

The card is a Startech PCIE to M.2 Adaptor PEX4M2E1.

The M.2 card is a WD Black PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe SSD

Hi,

Just to put closure on this - after much experimenting this turned out to be a failure of the WD Black M.2 PCIe SSD drive.  It was only six months old so replaced under warranty. Still have to reinstall all the server software though :(

This helped me too
