Re: TS130: after bios update, cannot boot from USB flash drive

It seems that versions  63A, 61A, and 60A have this bug.

I downgraded to version 57A (https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkservers/bios_57a_29b_win_x64_ts130.exe) and now it can boot from USB again.

After I first downgraded, and it was working, I reflashed each of the other versions, just to see if any of them would work.  No USB devices show up at the F12 boot menu with the newer versions.

I would like to see this fixed.

Hi,

How about rolling back the BIOS to the version before your update? This may help to identify if the issue is related to new BIOS or not.

If the USB is bootable with the original BIOS, this will tell us the issue may be caused by new BIOS.

If the USB is still not bootable with the original BIOS, you might need to try a different USB drive.

Hope it helps you.

Thanks,

Karl

That's what I said that I did.  Version 57A works.  The USB is bootable with version 57A.  The versions 60A, 61A, and 63A will not boot from USB.  USB does not even show up as an option in the boot menu with these newer BIOS's.  In case you are wondering, I did enable all 4 of the USB devices in the various  BIOS boot option screens, and have tried different USB devices, including a USB hard drive, and USB flash drives of different sizes.

Until I see a newer version to try, I'm sticking with 57A.

How do you do a downgrade your bios when you can't boot from the USB? I've been running Unraid for years on this system and deceided to update the firmware for some stupid reason. I ran it off a bootable dos USB stick and worked fine. All my Windows installs are on USB sticks and don't think I have any disks to burn. I could possable get a linux distro onto a HDD and go that route but can't even find where to download older firmware.
