TS440 Bricked after BIOS flash

2018-03-15, 18:34 PM

So, just flashed a BIOS update (via DOS/Flash.bat) to my TS440. All seemed to go fine, but when it rebooted it put itself into an infinite boot loop. The machine will power up for about 5 sec, the lights will flash once, and then it will shut down and repeat the whole process. My monitor does not even come out of low-power mode. My warranty ran out three months ago, of course. I talked to Lenovo support, who said they couldn't help me at all because the warranty had lapsed. They also said they could not escalate my request. In short, not very helpful.

Any help, suggestions, advice would be much appreciated, I'm pretty frustrated that this machine is just a paperweight now.

Great question. So I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not sure exactly which BIOS version I was coming from- I haven't updated it in this machine before, so it was the version that it came with originally in December of 2014. I updated to version CVA. Thanks for the help!

Re: TS440 Bricked after BIOS flash

Thanks very much for the response! So, I gave that a shot, but the only thing that changed is, during the "power on" sequence I mentioned, the computer now emits 2 short beeps. It didn't load any recovery, and the machine is still stuck in a boot loop. The monitor again didn't power on. I let it run for about 30min I'm the new beeping boot loop to see if anything would change, but it just continued. The beeping went away when I switched the jumper back, but the boot loop persisteted. Any other ideas? Thanks again.
