We've just received a bunch of Lenovo servers. We've finally gotten the XClarity administration installed. Took quite a few attempts, as we don't have a DHCP in the hosting center, and apparently the iso config file doesn't work if you give empty IPV6 strings, stupid, well we finally got it working.
Now we're trying to add the servers to it.
We've tried with
So far no luck at all.
Se we downloaded the bmc_reset.zip, created a DOS boot disk, and put the files on it.
When I try to run either of them, and any of the servers, I get the error:
Access KCS Error or KCSD Timeout
I get the error immediately, so my guess it i not a timeout.
What to do???

Hmmm..... you must be new to IBM/Lenovo servers, as it has been that as default for as long as RSA has been around, and that predates IMM and IMM2 and XClarity.
But then I have been around IT for > 30 years

Sorry you had so much trouble finding the default username and password.
For future reference, the BMC GUI on the ThinkSystem products is called Lenovo XClarity Controller (LXCC). We do have a user's manaul which explains first time access to a Thinksystem server:
I am currently writing an article just for this inquiry so it is easier to find in the future. When I am finished and it is published I will link to the this forum for others to utilize should they run into the same question.
