ThinkServer TD350 can't launch remote console

2017-08-28, 17:34 PM

I have a ThinkServer TD350. I'm trying to launch the remote TSM KVM console. I have the latest Java 8 update 144. Even though I've added the server's IP address to Java's list of security exceptions (which has always worked for me before), Java reports a security error and says it's unable to launch the application so I can launch the remote console. Specifically, "Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system. The following resource is signed with a weak signature algorithm MD5withRSA and is treated as unsigned...."

Again, I already added the server's IP address to Java's security exceptions list, but it still won't launch. I was finally able to launch the remote console by downgrading Java down to version 7, but that's hardly a good solution either. I have other servers that provide a standard HTML 5-based remote viewer instead of Java, but I don't see that option here.

How do I fix?

Found the fix!  I see there is a firmware update (version 4.19.313 for the TSM) now available that makes the console compatible with newer versions of Java 8.

It usually that you need to clear the cache in the IE and reset the IE setting

Please also do the following in the JAVA configuration.

1. check the "enable Java content in the browser"

2. check the "high" not "very high"

3. put the TMM IP into the the exception site list.

In the new ThinkSystem, the XCC provide the full function of the HTML5 then we can get rid of the JAVA from now on.

Not sure I follow. Are you saying there is a firmware update for the TSM in the ThinkServer TD350 that will give me an HTML 5-based KVM?

Thinksystem is the new generation server that Lenovo just  launched. If you have upgrade or expand plan, the new server will bring the different image to you.

I take it that means there aren't any plans for an HTML-based remote console for the TD350.

Back to my problem, if I downgrade Java 8u144 back to Java8u121, the remote console launches just fine. So it seems to be an issue with the more recent releases of Java.

The server's TSM IP address is already in Java's Exception Site list. Also, clearing IE's cache and Java's cache didn't work. Java 8u144 still reports "Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system. The following resource is signed with a weak signature algorithm MD5withRSA and is treated as unsigned: http://x.x.x.x/Java/release/JViewer.jar....

I suggest that you use the https, not http to do the secure connection. Please go to the TSM and check the service management. The port 443 should be assigned to the WEB.Please confirm it. Then use the https:// to invoke the Remote control.
