Can I use a 1.8" micro-SATA SSD in my ThinkStation?

Yes.  If you order a ThinkStation D20, S20, E20, or C20/C20x with an SSD, they are currently shipping with 1.8" micro-SATA drives (as of the time of this KB article).   The configuration is a 1.8" to 2.5" adapter mounted inside a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter.

This combination can be purchased seperately by purchasing FRU numbers 42W7888 and 41R5625.

Shown with optional 1.8" Intel SSD installed.  Drive mounting rail not included.
